The first half of the season is officially over as the Cubs are heading to the all-star break two games under .500 with a 43-45 record.  After the historic World Series comeback last year, the Cubs have been disappointing thus far this season sitting 5.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central.  The Cubs have not been able to right the ship so far but with a star-studded lineup the Cubs possess the firepower necessary to complete a second half turnaround.

Though the Cubs have stars all over the field, one glaring difference between last year and this year is the lack of northside representation in the All-Star Game.  Last year seven Cubs represented Chicago at the all-star game, including the entire starting infield, this year only closer Wade Davis will represent the Cubs at tomorrow’s game.  Most notably not in the All-Star lineup for the Cubs are Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant, last year’s NL MVP.
