Moncada Back for the White Sox, Garcia out with a Broken Jaw

Yoan Moncada and Willy Garcia were involved in a dangerous collision last week while trying to chase down a fly ball softly hit into shallow right field.  The play ended with both players on the ground after Moncada’s knee collided with Garcia’s head.  In pain, both players stayed down on the grass for an extended period of time. Garcia eventually left the field under his own power while Moncada was carted off.

After missing only two games with a bruised knee, Moncada will return to the White Sox lineup against the Boston Red Sox, the team who the White Sox acquired Moncada from.  Garcia was not as lucky, a CT scan taken by the team found a broken jaw which will cause Garcia to miss 4-6 weeks.  In wake of Garcia’s injury the team has called up 25 year old Nicky Delmonico to start in the White Sox outfield.
