New Orleans Saints Trade Adrian Peterson

The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a trade with the New Orleans Saints, sending an undisclosed 2018 draft pick to the Saints in exchange for future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson.  The move also includes the Saints receiving a conditional sixth round compensation pick and the Cardinals releasing Chris Johnson to make room for AP on their roster.

The trade makes sense for both teams as the Cardinals’ running game has been searching for help since star back David Johnson went down with an injured wrist in week one and Adrian Peterson wasn’t fitting in well in New Orleans.  New Orleans will get to lean on their younger backs in Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara who can both feature as receiving backs, something Peterson was not able to do and is vital to their offensive system.  Adrian Peterson has not looked like the same elite running back this year but he is still a hard runner who can run defenders over.

Time will tell how this plays out but I am excited to see what Peterson has left in the tank, something we weren’t allowed to see with his limited usage in New Orleans.
